Packing for a trip can become quite overwhelming pretty fast.  Packing for a camping trip where you can at the least expect the unexpected, can be even more so.  When I first started camping, I had no idea what kind of camping supplies I would need, so I made sure I had snacks.  I was just a kid at the time, so what do you expect?  On our first camping trip,   I remember clearing the spot, setting up the tent, collecting fire wood…. experiencing the campfires, sing-a-longs, cooking food off of a stick, walks on the beach, sunsets, fireflies, mosquitoes, ticks, gypsy moths,…. Oops, wait a second – go back, go back……hiking, swimming, s’mores, etc., ahhhhh, that’s better.

If you’re an avid camper, or someone that’s new to this experience, you definitely know that you will need some camping supplies.  This is a website, put together by a camper for campers.  In it, I will show you a variety of camping supplies that are crucial to making your camping experience a pleasant and memorable one.

Some campers I know sleep in a sleeping bag under the stars, in the middle of the woods, with barely any camping supplies.  I am not one of those campers.  I feel that besides the sleeping bag, a tent is an important addition to my list of camping supplies.  I also include in this list of “must have” supplies such items as cookware, the right clothing and first aid supplies.

Even though I am a camper that does set up a tent and sleep on the ground, I have been known to “comfort” it up a bit.  I have to admit that I have brought along an air mattress and an air pump that works off my cigarette lighter in the car.  Not the type of camping supplies from the “must have” category, but it does make sleeping a bit more comfortable.  I also like to pack food that I don’t have to cook in case it rains and all the wood gets wet.  But say it doesn’t rain and you feel like cooking in the great outdoors.  Once you get the fire going, you will need to place a grill on the glowing sticks.  Yes, a grill that you can lay on an open fire is one of the essential camping supplies you will need if you are to cook this way.  If not, you might want to add a camping stove to your own list of camping supplies.

Besides cooking, which can be a fun, enjoyable experience for all, there are also other activities that you can do when camping.  A lot of camping sites offer hiking andDan with his big flounder catch! bicycling trails, as well as swimming, boating and fishing.   If you like to participate in any of these activities, you will need to add more items to your own “must have” list of camping supplies.  I actually like to fish and have included in my list of camping supplies a fishing rod, tackle box, fishing line, bait, etc.  (If I can though, I try real hard to get someone else to bait my hook.)  I love the water, and like to swim but mostly I love to watch my children splash each other and laugh.  Children, you will find, have their own list of unique camping supplies.

As you can see, there can be a minimal amount of items to add to your list of camping supplies, or there can be a lot to add to your list of camping supplies.  In this website, I will share with you some of my personal camping experiences and make suggestions as to what items you may want to have on your own personal list of camping supplies.
