Packing for a trip can become quite overwhelming pretty fast.
Packing for a camping trip where you can at least expect the unexpected,
can be even more so.

Camping Supplies for You
has what you need to make your camping trip an enjoyable and safe adventure!

When I first started camping, I had no idea what kind of camping supplies I would need, so I made sure I had snacks.  I was just a kid at the time, so what do you expect?

On our first camping trip, I remember clearing the spot, setting up the tent, collecting fire wood…. experiencing the campfires, sing-a-longs, cooking food off of a stick, walks on the beach, sunsets, fireflies, mosquitoes, ticks, gypsy moths,…. Oops, wait a second – go back, go back……hiking, swimming, s’mores, etc., ahhhhh, that’s better.

Some Basic Tips...
Rough it or Air Mattress?
If you’re an avid camper, or someone that’s new to this experience, you definitely know that you will need some camping supplies.

Camping supplies are crucial to making your camping experience a pleasant and memorable one.
Even though I am a camper that does set up a tent and sleep on the ground, I have been known to “comfort” it up a bit.

I have to admit that I have brought along an air mattress and an air pump that works off my cigarette lighter in the car. Not the type of camping supplies from the “must have” category, but it does make sleeping a bit more comfortable.

Type of Food: Cold or Hot?  Picnic or Grill?

I also like to pack food that I don’t have to cook in case I want to have a nice picnic while I am on vacation.

This recipe book, Good Day for a Picnic by Jeremy Jackson is not a book of classics -- after all, who needs another fried-chicken recipe? It's a fresh, flavorful (and funny) look at picnics. The 120 recipes include everything from drinks and starters to sandwiches, entrees, and desserts. There's Ginger Iced Tea and Fig Pate, Lamb Pita Meze and Noodles with Walnut and Blue Cheese Pesto, Sour Cherry Mini-Crumbles and Strawberry Cupcakes. The dishes are simple, wholesome, and quick to prepare, with lots of make-aheads and tips on food transport.

But what if you feel like cooking in the great outdoors. Once you get all your wood (or coals) and get the fire going, you will need to place a grill on the glowing ambers.  Yes, a
grill that you can lay on an open fire is one of the essential camping supplies you will need if you are to cook this way. If not, you might want to add a camping stove to your own list of camping supplies.

Water Play

I love the water, and like to swim but mostly I love to watch my children splash each other and laugh. Children, you will find, have their own list of unique camping supplies.

As you can see, there can be a minimal amount of items to add to your list of camping supplies, or there can be a lot to add to your list of camping supplies.

You have to decide what you will need based on your family needs and the activities that you will be enjoying on your trip.
